Skinspirational Tips - For Keeping Your Skin Hydrated and Glowing This Summer!

The arrival of summer does not mean it is time to ease up on skin care, it means it’s time to reshape your routine. Warmer weather and more time outdoors means a new set of skin challenges and concerns. It is vital to protect, nourish, and hydrate your skin to keep it glowing during the summer.  


To maintain healthy summer skin, here are five steps you can follow:


1. Hydrate Consistently


Stay hydrated: Drinking an adequate amount of water is crucial for maintaining healthy skin during the summer. High temperatures and increased outdoor activities can lead to dehydration, which can affect your skin's appearance and health. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day and increase your intake if you're spending a lot of time outdoors or exercising.


2. Wear Sunscreen


Apply sunscreen: Sun protection is essential for healthy skin, especially during the summer when the sun's rays are stronger. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and apply it generously to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, arms, and legs. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if you're sweating or swimming.


3. Cleanse Properly


Cleanse gently: Proper cleansing helps remove dirt, sweat, and excess oil from your skin, but it's important to be gentle, especially during the summer when your skin may be more sensitive due to sun exposure. Use a mild, non-drying cleanser to wash your face twice a day, and avoid harsh scrubbing or hot water, as they can strip away natural oils and cause dryness.


4. Moisturize Daily


Moisturize regularly: Even though the summer weather may be more humid, your skin still needs moisture to stay healthy. Look for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers that are suitable for your skin type. Apply moisturizer to your face and body after cleansing to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Don't forget to moisturize your lips as well, as they can become dry and chapped from sun exposure.


5. Protection From The Sun


Practice sun-safe habits: In addition to wearing sunscreen, there are other sun-safe habits you should adopt to protect your skin during the summer. Seek shade when the sun's rays are strongest, usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wear protective clothing, such as hats, sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants. Remember that sunburns not only cause short-term discomfort but also increase the risk of long-term skin damage and skin cancer.
